And this guy pulls out from the right looking to turn left.

As I see him moving, I hit the gas, because I’m an asshole.

Swerve. Hit horn. Swerve back.

At the light, this guy says, “that was the best driving I’ve ever seen. I wash sure you were creamed. Have you ever raced? Because goddamn that was good driving . ”

“Nah, I’m just alert.”

“How did you know nothing was in the on-coming lane?”

“Always look one step ahead.”

That was some of the dumbest driving I’ve ever done, and I felt really bad afterwards, but kind of happy that someone thought it was impressive driving. Don’t get me wrong, if I didn’t accelerate to cause an accident, it would have been pure good driving, but I pretty much accelerated to teach an asshole a lesson and got really lucky that there was no on-coming  get traffic.

no fair.... last time someone pulled out on me i jammed on the  brakes then remembered i didnt have any.... so i put me feet down... wich wasnt working well enough... so i flicked the back wheel out sideways and high sided myself (wasnt the plan)

dude just looked at me being a sad pile of intertwined man/bike parts and drove off

couldnt even spare a hey thanks for not plowing into my door (or a haha for that matter....joyless bastard)

No one cares about killing a biker. Sometimes I think about rolling down my window at lights  and being like “I will leave you two car lengths, because I very much don’t want you to die, but can you please not be in front of me?”

eh i wasnt even on the road at the time... dude pulled across the bike crossing next to the road (still my own fault for riding without brakes tho)

and bikers should keep as much to the side of the road as they can so cars can get by easily and safely.... i know thats not what the law says

but its what they should do... its just safer and less irritating for all

Bicyclists don’t count. In cities, they want to die. They either dive in front of cars or almost hit pedestrians and get taken out by a well placed briefcase to the face.

I don’t know anything about the latter and never would jump back and smash a bicyclist in the face causing him to fall off. Theoretically, if that happened, that man would be a hero.

eh... for a good chunck of cyclists you are pretty much spot on in your assesment (specially the spandex clad bunch..... insufferable them)

me.. i ride like an asshole

but im not a fan of pain... so try to avoid putting myself in situations where i have to fight a car or dodge briefcases

cycling for 36 years now... only got punched in the face once (ran into a parked car... twice.. i had that one coming)

i think im ok as far as cyclists go :p

One of my many pieves is people who seem to mindlessly roll ahead while checking (or not) to make sure it’s clear to proceed. If it’s not your turn to move, you shouldn’t be moving. Seems simple enough but somehow beyond the grasp of many drivers.

There’s only one set of traffic lights in town. Two lanes along the main drag, plus parallel parking. There’s a hydrant right at the corner, so there’s a spot you can sneak into if you’re trying to turn right on a red and there’s one car ahead of you. I sorta question the legality of the move, but I’ve seen other people do it in front of cops who didn’t care, so I’ll keep doing it unless I learn otherwise. Rolling up to it the other day planning to sneak around , just as I level with the rear bumper, the car in the last parking spot flips on the signal light, as it starts rolling out, wheel cranked to the left . I go from gentle to full brake pressure, and lay on the horn. The driver who hasn’t looked my way yet from what I can tell is clearly startled, but gives me the “what the fuck dude” gesture a s they slowly stop, now entering my lane . Had they rolled out about six inches further, I wouldn’t have been able to sneak through the gap. Yes I was a bit far over because I was shooting for a gap I probably shouldn’t have been aiming for, but I was still within my lane. A less alert driver in my position, even going straight if they’d wandered a little far over to the right and who wasn't as quick on the horn , could have easily clipped the car they didn’t expect to have move into their path right on the driver’s wheel, had the driver pulling out not been alerted to a vehicle it its blind spot. Really, a quick shoulder check before (not during) moving would have prevented that situation.

My girlfriend FREAKS THE FUCK OUT when someone rolls up to a stop and I’m always like “chill. If they actually wanted to pull out, I’d just brake check them.” That doesn’t comfort her for some reason.
